POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY INTERVENTION IN PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM

On Sunday, October 15, at the 6th Panhellenic Autism Conference held in Larissa, an innovative Positive Psychology intervention was presented to parents of children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders). In particular, in the year 2016-17, a group of parents ran in the Special Treatment Unit for children with ASD (ETHMA) of the P. & A. Kyriakou Children's Hospital, which combined psychoeducation around the issues concerning ASD and, at the same time, a training group in Positive Psychology. EETHEPSY donated the training materials for the Positive Psychology team and the tools to measure the results. The results are encouraging, although the sample is very small and therefore the results cannot be safely generalized. The testimonies of the parents show the beneficial effects of the intervention. It was a great collaboration and we hope it will be repeated.
